IndyCar racer Dan Wheldon died in a tragic crash on Sunday October 16th. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and fans - and especially with his wife Susie Wheldon.

"IndyCar is sad to announce that Dan Wheldon passed away from unsurvivable injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dan and his family," IndyCar's CEO Randy Bernard reported.
More than 10 cars were involved in the crash that killed Wheldon. Will Power, Pippa Mann, and J.R. Hildebrand were also taken to the hospital after the crash.
