Photo Gallery: Car Designs for the Future

 

The students at the Faculty of Transportation Design, Pforzheim University, have come up with car designs for the future. This end-of-term project by Jun Hyuck has a flowing form, sleek lines and razor-sharp edges.

 

Professor Lutz Fügener says the internal combustion engine could soon be history. One of his students, Harsih Kumar, has designed this pyramid on wheels. These futuristic cars could soon be on our streets.  

 Alain Brideson: The New Zealander's design is based on a radically reduced frontal area, a tear-drop shaped carriage and a chassis that is capable of inclining. 

 

 Render Makush: The average age of motorcyclists in Germany is 42. This designer wanted to create a bike that would be more attractive to younger people. 

 Zimo Yang: This three-wheeled energy efficient vehicle is a completely different conception of what a car should look like. 

 Several students are working with Honda to produce sportscars that can run on fuel cells.

Futuristic car designs from Samsung Motors

This is one very interesting area that we have neglected in the past couple of weeks, not because we’ve lost our interest in it, but because the world of gadgets seems to be more and more dominating. I’m talking about the design and construction of cars. And you have to admit that it is, indeed, a very interesting domain to discuss.




Anyway, what made me make up my mind is a green concept car that was presented in the past couple of days in Seoul, at the Seoul Motor Show, that focused all of its attention on the eco-friendly technology. The only disadvantage is that the recession managed to spread so very fast in this industry that important foreign car manufacturers decided not to present themselves at this year’s edition.

One of the futuristic car designs that were presented at the show is one created by Samsung Motors. It’s a concept car called eMX (coming from eco-Motoring Experience) and, as you can see in the picture, its body shape and interior lines are meant to remind us of the “organic lines occurring in nature”.
